Dolorosa Arabians, of Rocky Point, North Carolina, is owned by Dr. DeCarol and Jan Williamson. Over the past 30 years, they have been equally successful in breeding national champions in halter and performance. In 2004 they were awarded the APHA Breeder Of The Year Award. It was a supreme honor to receive such an award and DeCarol is quick to acknowledge all of the breeders, past and present, whose efforts laid the foundation for his own successful program.

Among the many national champions produced by Dolorosa Arabians, perhaps the most accomplished halter show horse and sire was the world record holder, DA Valentino. DA Valentino was a six-time national champion and sire of international champions.

With his ever-expanding business and professional life, DeCarol Williamson has recently decided to refocus the program at Dolorosa Arabians on breeding exclusively show halter and breeding horses. He also plans to expand his marketing efforts to include the entire international community. This is not a huge shift because DeCarol established his foundational mares decades ago. He is now breeding his third and fourth generation of halter horses.

The Dolorosa Arabians current mares include five daughters of the legendary sire, Padrons Psyche, as well as daughters of the great Versace. There are other high quality mares with a variety of bloodlines. The common denominators among all are their exceptional quality, classic type, powerful movement, and outstanding production. All horses at Dolorosa are CA and SCID tested.

DeCarol is extremely careful in the selection of stallions for his mares. His choices are based on thoughtful analysis of a stallion's proven production record as his farm bred stallion DA Valentino. DeCarol is ecstatic about the genetic potential of Valentino's younger full brother DA Legacy. His first foals that were born in 2011 were exceptional. The success of both DA Valentino and DA Legacy only create huge expectation for the young prodigy and baby brother, DA Prodigy. His conformation shows tremendous potential for the show ring and his proven pedigree promises a bright future in the breeding barn. DA Prodigy's first foals will arrive in 2012.

DeCarol is looking forward to the opportunity of line breeding the stock from his own program. He will introduce bloodlines that may enhance that program and the brand of quality the DA represents. DeCarol Williamson's goal for the Dolorosa breeding program is to breed the highest quality, and the most beautiful Arabian horses.
